To Health and Wellness - Add a Pulse Oximeter and Home Glucose Test analyzer with strips, stethoscope, old bulb type thermometer, scalpel, hemostat & wooden tongue depressor.
For kitchen gadgets you HAVE to have a "church key" (can/bottle opener) and a hand can opener, plus hand mixer, measuring cups and spoons, spatula and meat fork.
Hobbies- a little coin collection, it doesn't have to be fancy or expensive one but one with several coins from different eras and maybe also a couple of Canadian and Mexican coins.
Games - make sure you get the classic ones -- Checkers, Chess, Chinese Checkers, Backgammon, Monopoly, Life, Master Mind, Trivial Pursuit, Parcheesi, Dominos, Card games, with an Old Maid showing, a Poker royal flush or Aces and Eights (dead man's hand for historical reasons) and find a card from a "Go Fish" deck, maybe a small picture of a Bridge "dummy" hand.
For tool display, do not forget the very basics -- Hammer, screwdriver, pliers, hand drill, adze, block plane, framing square (even a small 6" one would do), draw knife, hand sickle, sharpening stone, chisel, hand saw, awl plus needle and thread (the needle is a type of wedge), couple of different types of clamps, maybe even Aboriginal stone/Obsidian scraper and stone hand axe. As it is in a Library, I would suggest a printing press but that is too large! Maybe a nib pen and empty but painted inside black ink bottle? What "tool" has had more influence on society than the pen and ink, & follow-on printing press?
Congratulations, Christine! You are doing awesome things at our library! ❤️
We did it! The goal of our freezer meal workshop was to get 3 meals put together in under an hour. Most were completed in 30-40 minutes! Thank you all for participating and enjoy those meals! A big thank you to library board trustee Mandy Tally for all the help prepping for this! For those who missed it, we will be doing this workshop again! ... See MoreSee Less
